For two long years, a sweet Pit Bull named Holiday was forced to breed litter after litter. She was only two-and-a-half years old and was living a life that no dog should ever suffer through. Now? She needs a loving and forever home.
Holiday was recently rescued from a backyard breeder that was abusing her and using her to solely for the purpose of having as many litters as possible. Thankfully, she was rescued by an organization called Mr. Bones and Co.
“She was so scared and quiet when I first met her,” Elli Frank, founder of Mr. Bones and Co., told a fellow website.
“She had no idea what was happening to her, and she was scared. She came up to me in the yard and pressed her body up against me, and in that moment I was like, ‘I got you. It’s going to be OK.’”
Holiday is one of the sweetest and gentlest girls you’ll ever meet. She’s great with kids and loves hanging out with people. Be careful though, her gentle nudges with her nose might make you a sucker for handing out treats.
“She’s very funny and silly; sometimes she’ll just suddenly play like a puppy, other times she just sits in your lap and chills,” Frank said. “She matches the energy of whoever she’s with. She’s the snowman of pit bulls. She just melts into you.”
The gentle giant loves cuddles and snuggles but when it came to walks outside, it made the rescued girl a bit nervous. The sounds of the big city made her dread going outside at all. It was just too much for her.
She hated going on walks until her foster mom randomly did something that changed everything. She bought Holiday some doggy pajamas.
Holiday’s foster parents put her in some pajamas for a photo shoot that was going to promote her finding a forever home. After the shoot, her foster mom took her outside for a quick walk and didn’t bother to take them off.
It was at this moment that she noticed an immediate difference in the beautiful dog. She was much more calm, far more confident, and her anxiety seemed to have completely disappeared.
Holiday now wears her pajamas everywhere she goes and it’s absolutely adorable. Any time Holiday goes on walks or out for adventures, she’s going to need to wear her pajamas in order to feel comfortable.
She recently went out with her foster parents on the train and she caused quite the stir. Everyone fell in love with her. Can you blame them? “Wearing the pajamas did two things,” Frank said.
“It helped her, but it also made people stop and want to say hi. She’s a really easy dog to change someone’s perception on what a pit bull is. When you see a dog in pajamas, your first reaction isn’t going to be, ‘Oh my goodness, that’s a scary pit bull.’ It’s going to be, ‘Oh my goodness, look at that dog in pajamas!’”
She has been at the shelter since February and it’s time that she finally finds a family. She should be in a home with no other animals, other than that? Just cuddles!
We know you’ll find that forever home soon, Holiday! SHARE this story!
